The Cape Town Bishop Lavis Magistrate’s Court has sentenced 29-year-old Enrico Slawers to a total of 57 years imprisonment following his conviction for a brutal triple murder in 2022.
Enrico Slawers handed hefty sentence for triple murder
Slawers, a known hitman linked to gang-related activities in the area, reached a plea agreement with the state and was sentenced on Wednesday, 11 September 2024.
Slawers was found guilty of gunning down three individuals on 30 November 2022.
The victims, whose names have not been released to the public, were sitting at a property in Bishop Lavis when Slawers approached and opened fire.
Each victim sustained multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency responders.
Western Cape Provincial Commissioner General Thembisile Patekile commended the Anti-Gang Unit for their thorough investigation that led to the swift arrest of Slawers in Botrivier, shortly after the murders took place.
In court, Slawers received 15 years imprisonment for each murder, alongside additional sentences of 10 years for illegal possession of a firearm and 2 years for possession of ammunition.
These sentences will run concurrently, leading to a combined 57 years behind bars.
General Patekile remarked:
“This sentence reflects our commitment to ensuring justice for victims of violent crime, particularly those related to gang activities.”
