There really is nothing more dangerous than a woman scorned. Durban police were lauded for swooping in and saving the life of an ex after he was allegedly targeted by his former girlfriend.
Durban woman exacts the ultimate revenge on her ex-boyfriend
At this time, it is not clear what the catalyst behind the end of the couple’s relationship was, but a look at the charges the former girlfriend faces suggests she may have been out for revenge.
According to Durban police spokesperson Colonel Thembeka Mbele, the girlfriend and four other male suspects, all aged between 25 and 57, were arrested on the morning of Monday 6 July 2020, after their attempts at extorting the ex-boyfriend failed horribly.
It’s believed that the ex-boyfriend, a 50-year-old male, was contacted by his former lover who posed as a damsel-in-distress, asking him to hurry up and meet her at Queen Street in Durban’s CBD, on Sunday afternoon.

Unclear of what was going on, and still holding some emotional regard for his ex-girlfriend, the victim made it to Queen Street as quickly as he possibly could.
However, when he got to the meeting location at approximately 16:00, he was met by his former girlfriend and four other male accomplices who immediately attacked him.
“The victim arrived and found the former girlfriend waiting with unknown men who pushed him into the backseat of his vehicle and drove to Inanda. He was allegedly assaulted, robbed of his belongings and was instructed to contact his brother to bring R400 000 as well as the logbook of his vehicle,” Colonel Mbele wrote in a statement.
Ex’s brother was the thorn in Durban woman’s plans
Everything in the Durban woman’s plans was going accordingly, except, she had underestimated the brother’s involvement in all of this.
Instead of coiling up to her demands, the boyfriend’s brother alerted authorities and the Durban Flying Squad hatched a counter-response to save the ex-boyfriend and arrest the suspects.
Sure enough, in the wee hours of Monday morning, the police pounced on the suspects at the location they had kept the ex-boyfriend.
Fortunately, the 50-year-old survived the ordeal and the five suspects, including the ex-girlfriend, were arrested and charged with robbery, extortion and assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
They are expected to appear before the Durban Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday to register their charges and file notices on their respective bail applications.
