A Diepsloot cash-in-transit (CIT) robbery was pulled off by unidentified suspects on Friday and second to the money were groups of bystanders.

According to crime reporter Yusuf Abramjee, the incident took place at the N14.R511 intersection on Friday morning. From what we understand, an unknown number of suspects targeted a money truck travelling on the route.
images and video clips that surfaced on the internet showed the remnants of the cash van’s rear door that had been bombed. Our attempts to reach Diepsloot police for a statement were unsuccessful.
However, according to EMS service Emer-G-Med, paramedics were deployed to the scene of the cash-in-transit heist where three officers had sustained mild injuries.

Authorities may have more than a few suspects to list in their investigation into the CIT robbery since, right after the bombers made off with an undisclosed amount of money, scores of onlookers dashed for the cash notes that were left behind.
This video shows how large crowds, some even stopping in the middle of the road and abandoning their vehicles to grab what they could from the cash van which, by the way, was an active crime scene.

At this time, no arrests have been made and the latest updates on traffic activity in the area indicate that the R511 highway to Johannesburg has been cordoned off for further evidence collecting.
Motorists are advised to use alternative routes.
