What happened at Darrenwood Village?
Details around the incident are still murky at this stage. However, CCTV footage showing how a resident was targeted and murdered by hijackers surfaced on social media.
According to the metadata found in the security cameras situated at Gate 2 of the retirement village, the vicious murder took place at approximately 22:31 on Thursday evening.
In the video, the complex’s security guard was seen approaching the gate as it opened. However, the guard soon realised something was amiss when he saw a dark figure lurking on the driver’s side of the car.
Things quickly escalated into complete horror when the hijacker fired a gunshot into the car, possibly striking the driver in the lower regions of his body.
The victim, refusing to concede to the armed suspect’s advances, was caught on CCTV reaching out to grab the firearm. However, their grasp was not firm enough and a second gunshot was fired in the air as the suspect pulled his hand away.
Then, a third gunshot was fired into the car, possibly striking the driver in the head and killing them instantly.
The cold-blooded murder is the priority of Linden police who have confirmed that the victim’s car, a black Ford Fiesta was taken. The killer, however, is still unknown.
Darrenwood Village confirmed to Swisher Post that the complex has cautiously resumed its daily operations after the incident. Further questions we put forward were not answered at the time this article was published.
An anonymous source with intimate knowledge of the incident revealed to Swisher Post that the resident had returned home “after playing golf and having dinner,” and was, in all likelihood, followed to the retirement village by the suspects in a white Nissan Almera.
“The resident saw them and asked the guard to quickly open the gate which he did but the villains quickly jumped out their car and ran next to the resident’s car with a gun. They told him to open the window but he was busy driving in so they just shot him three times which resulted in the car crashing into a pot plant. They threw him out the car and went off with it. Unfortunately the resident died on the scene,” the source revealed.
From what we understand, investigators have clear snapshots of the suspects’ faces and a manhunt has been launched.
