DCS debunks Musa Khawula death hoax
Correctional Services spokesperson Singabakho Nxumalo dispelled the rumours of Khawula’s death, stating:
“Musa Khawula is alive and well in our correctional facility. He is still serving his 60-day sentence.”
The rumours began circulating after Khawula was seen in court wearing orange prison clothes, leading to speculation about his well-being.
Khawula is currently detained in a correctional facility after being arrested on 9 July 2024 at the Vredenburg Magistrate’s Court for failing to appear in a Gauteng court. He was attending a hearing related to a murder charge when the arrest occurred.
His next court appearance is scheduled for 2 September 2024, where he will face further proceedings related to the murder case.
Despite the rumours, Khawula remains in custody, and his legal troubles are ongoing.
What’s the latest in his murder trial?
Musa Khawula’s murder trial is set to resume with a pre-trial meeting scheduled for 23 January 2024.
The case centres on the fatal stabbing of his ex-boyfriend, Wandile Khambule, in March 2021.
Khawula has, in the past, claimed that the stabbing was an act of self-defence.
Khawula allegedly chased Khambule before inflicting fatal wounds to his chest and back.
The trial date for Khawula’s case has not yet been set, but the upcoming pre-trial meeting will likely determine the next steps.
