Reports have surfaced about a mass shooting in Atlantis, Western Cape, on Thursday, where at least eight victims were struck.

Details are still sketchy at this time but according to renowned reporter Athi Mthongana, emergency services were rushed to the crime-ridden town after multiple victims were struck by gunfire.
A shooting incident has left eight people aged between 13 and 32 wounded in Atlantis, Cape Town.

The victims — believed to be aged between 13 and 32 — were standing outside a spaza shop when suddenly, a hail of bullets was sent their way.
Police have yet to confirm this but it’s said that an unidentified male was seen drawing his weapon and shooting in the direction of the spaza shop before he ran off. At this time, it is unclear if the suspect made it off on foot or in a getaway vehicle.
Latest updates on the victims
Emergency services were quickly rushed onto the scene and all eight victims were sent to a nearby hospital for urgent treatment. From what we understand — with the little bits of information available at this time — at least five of the victims were treated for minor injuries and were released a while later.
Three victims, however, have been kept in the hospital’s intensive care unit and are being monitored as they, unfortunately, suffered serious gunshot wounds.

Eight (8) were wounded and were transported to hospital for treatment. Five (5) have now been discharged from hospital, while three (3) who were seriously wounded remain in hospital .
At this time, it is unclear if this tally includes the youngsters aged 13 and above.
