Law enforcement authorities in Pietermaritzburg, KwaZulu-Natal (KZN), are in search of at least four suspects who were involved in the robbery of a jewellery store inside Woodburn Mall, on Thursday.
Watch: Jewellery store robbed inside Woodburn Mall
The two-minute clip was posted by renowned crime reporter Yusuf Abramjee on social media. In the video clip, taken from a CCTV camera positioned opposite the store’s entrance, armed men were seen entering with guns drawn.
It is hard to make out what exactly transpired inside the store but from a distance, it’s clear to see that the suspects had accosted the store employees and were in a rush to grab as many jewellery items as possible.
All of this went on as shoppers walked past the store, oblivious to the robbery taking place. Towards the end of the video, a tall witness in a white shirt stumbled on the robbers trying to escape and tried his best to snatch the bag full of stolen jewellery.
Fortunately, the robbers were reluctant to use their weapons and instead, the man was taunted until he let go of the bag.
