Westmeath authorities are looking for this perp
Details around the incident are sketchy at this time. Swisher Post News made a number of attempts to get comment from Westmeath police but we were unsuccessful at the time this article was published.
From what we understand, a man carrying a plastic bag was forced out of his white bakkie by an armed assailant. The mask-wearing hijacker was seen pushing the victim to the side of the road with a firearm firmly in his grasp.
The victim didn’t offer any resistance and allowed the suspect, who’s believed to have been in cahoots with at least one other assailant, to make off with his white bakkie.
The incident took place on a busy street in Westmeath, in broad daylight.
An eyewitness who watched on in horror took footage of the incident, with these images captured of the suspect:
Of particular interest to authorities will be this silver Nissan Tiida which coincidentally pulled away from the crime scene, behind the stolen bakkie.
At this time, however, it’s not confirmed if the vehicle was involved in the incident.
