The manner in which this Mercedes Benz owner survived a brazen hijack attempt by two armed suspects will leave the hairs on the back of your neck raised.
Watch: Mercedes driver survives hijack attempt
One can’t imagine the rush of adrenaline that must have taken over this motorist when he was, seemingly out of the blue and within split seconds, faced with the nose of a loaded weapon.
The incident took place at a Total petrol station in Robertsham, south of Johannesburg, on Tuesday 28 July 2020, at approximately 18:50.
The CCTV footage showed the owner of a white Mercedes Benz — a C-Class AMG model in our untrained eye — filling up his tank at the petrol station, with two workers milling about in the rear of the vehicle, presumably holding small talk.
It all felt like a regular evening shift until, in two angles of the petrol station, two men were seen entering the frame. They seem unassuming, regular folks who appeared to be going on about their way.
Until, towards the end of the video, they were seen on either side of the Mercedes, with their guns drawn, ordering the driver to get out.
At that moment, it dawned on the workers that they were witnessing a hijack in progress. Thanks to the quick wit of the motorist, he or she managed to rev up the car’s engine and speed off before the jackers could get the prized vehicle.
Before the feed cuts off, the two men could be seen casually walking off into the night and out of frame. You can watch the video in its entirety below.
