Cape Town is a zone of immense tensions as yet another bout of public unrest was observed at an OK Liquor store in Highbury, Kuilsriver.
Watch: Kuilsriver OK Liquor store looted
The northern suburbs have been hit with a number of riots recently. In Kraaifontein, a mob of rioters tried to loot a liquor store and made a poor attempt at trying to extract money from ATM machines.
This time around, a large group of looters targeted the OK Liquor store in Highbury. Not much information is available on how much alcohol was taken, or if any arrests have been made.
Cape Town protests: Khayelitsha in land war
At the eastern periphery of the city, reports have surfaced on violence and unrest in Khayelitsha. It seems the land invasion riots that gripped the township for the last week have spilt into the weekend.
According to EWN, a Shoprite truck was set petrol bombed in the neighbouring Mfuleni. Observers on the ground report that rioters have blocked Kalkfontein, Old Faure and Spine Road with burning tyres and rubble.
Vehicles that attempted to drive past the riots were pelted with rocks, the cited publication reported. Motorists are advised to avoid the area.
There has been no word from law enforcement on the latest in both of these incidents.
