Ocean Basket double murder: What we know about the suspects
As reported by News24, two suspects have been tracked down and placed under arrest for the heinous murder of the 55-year-old businesswoman and her mom.
The suspects have yet to make a court appearance. Therefore, key identifiers such as their names have not been released, as yet. However, we can confirm that the suspects are aged 30 and 35, respectively.
Moreover, Limpopo police spokesperson Motlafela Mojapelo confirmed that both suspects were traced to different locations in Polokwane and arrested in the wee hours of Sunday morning.
The suspects face two counts of murder and robbery. Mojapelo further confirmed that the 35-year-old has been hit with an additional criminal charge related to the Immigration Act “as he is in the country illegally.”
This, the police confirmed, is not the last of the arrests in the brutal deaths of Deacon and her mom.
“The team has already identified other suspects and the search operation is continuing. More arrests are expected,” Mojapelo told News24.
What happened to Deacon and her mom?
The 55-year-old franchise owner and her mom were attacked in their home in Welgelegen, Polokwane, on Thursday 10 September 2020.
According to police, the Deacons had suffered multiple stab wounds. Their bodies, bound with rope, were found in their SUV that was left abandoned next to the R37 highway that connects Polokwane to Lebowakgomo.
