Elandsfontein investigators have released a bit more information on the double homicide that occurred at the affluent Fly Inn estate, on Tuesday morning.
Fly Inn murders: Police are probing a robbery-turned-deadly
A day after an elderly couple was viciously gunned down, with their daughter wounded, investigators have offered more details into the family that was allegedly attacked by unknown suspects.
We now know, through research, that the victims were 57-year-old Wayne Giles, his wife Janique (56) and their daughter Rachel (age unknown).
The Giles also had a son, 28-year-old Brandon, who miraculously survived the incident without so much as a scratch since, according to police spokesperson Brigadier Mathapelo Peters, he was asleep during the ordeal.
“It is alleged that the 28-year-old son of the deceased couple woke up to gunshots in the house at Fly Inn estate, Elandsfontein near Olifantsfontein. On responding, the son allegedly found his father downstairs with gunshot wounds to the upper body and his mother and sister upstairs, both shot,” Brig Peters noted in a statement to Centurion Rekord.
Items that were allegedly stolen
Investigators have upscaled the probe into the Fly Inn double homicide to house robbery-turned-deadly. In essence, the charges filed in the docket are murder, attempted murder and house robbery.
These are the items that were missing from the house after the incident:
- a TV set;
- two MacBooks; and
- a laptop
