Ayepyep Lifestyle, a well-known establishment in Cape Town, has issued a distress call for intervention as it grapples with an alleged extortion scheme linked to Ralph Stanfield.
Ayepyep Lifestyle sounds the alarm about alleged extortion
The establishment, popular for its vibrant atmosphere, has been forced to temporarily shut down due to what it claims are menacing threats from Stanfield, a figure allegedly associated with the 28s gang.
Ayepyep Lifestyle’s woes stem from its public assertion that Stanfield is orchestrating an unlawful takeover of the establishment.
Despite its efforts to resist, the establishment asserts that Stanfield, along with his wife Nicole Johnson and associates, has consistently posed a threat to the business, hampering its operations and instilling fear within the community.
“We are exposing here a man that to all appearances seems to be above the law and a true menace to society. Unfortunately, the culture of reporting and exposing matters of crime in South Africa has little or fruitless results, … business people and society are afraid to report their experiences to the police.
“As this is our final attempt at getting assistance from our government, we hope that this attempt will assist us to resolve not only our predicament but the predicament of so many other businesses that are striving to have free and peaceful operations in our country that we love and care about so much,” the club’s statement read.

A Culture of Fear and Coercion
Ayepyep Lifestyle’s plight underscores the broader climate of apprehension prevalent in the area.
Stanfield’s reputed influence and alleged ties to criminal elements have reportedly deterred individuals and businesses from coming forward with their experiences, creating a sense of powerlessness against his alleged activities.
Struggle for Assistance and Desperate Measures
In the face of mounting challenges, Ayepyep Lifestyle has taken legal action, securing a high court order to restrain Stanfield’s proximity to the establishment.
However, these efforts have proven insufficient to thwart the alleged threats. The establishment’s statement highlights that these circumstances have left them with no choice but to temporarily close their doors, jeopardizing their livelihood.
