The City of Cape Town continues to experience stable electricity supply, with loadshedding remaining suspended for 254 consecutive days since 26 March 2024.

This follows Eskom’s successful implementation of its Generation Recovery Plan, which has led to significant improvements in operational performance and energy availability.
Eskom’s year-to-date Energy Availability Factor (EAF) stands at 62.8%, an increase from 55.4% recorded during the same period last year. The reduction in unplanned outages, currently at 11,834MW, has further supported the stable supply.
Diesel consumption remains below budget, contributing to a year-on-year saving of R16.99 billion.
Eskom has confirmed sufficient generation capacity of 27,929MW to meet national demand, with no loadshedding anticipated for the City of Cape Town today.
