Eskom’s structural improvements in its coal-fired generation fleet and strategic maintenance efforts have been pivotal in maintaining this stability.
Eskom’s year-to-date Energy Availability Factor (EAF) is reported at 62.8%, a notable increase compared to 55.4% during the same period last year.
Unplanned outages remain low, with 11,834MW currently offline. Diesel consumption continues to fall within budget, resulting in year-on-year savings of R16.99 billion.
With an available generation capacity of 27,929MW, Eskom is well-positioned to meet today’s peak demand, ensuring a steady power supply for Cape Town residents.
