R&B singer, songwriter, producer and sound engineer, Bryan Cheru surprised many with the release of his heartbreak single titled Pisces Season Freestyle being produced by 1wavco.

A true heartbreak anthem

Cheru blessed his many listeners by releasing the 3-minute song onto his SoundCloud gifting many with a sad ballad about his struggle with a woman.

On the track, Cheru tends to question where and when the relationship between him and his lover began to dwindle.

He expresses his frustration and tiredness towards his lover and how he’d rather do anything else, like getting intoxicated instead of spending any more of his time with her.

The beat, being produced by 1wavco, is a simple yet mesmerizing R&B beat that captures the emotion and atmosphere Cheru had to go through when dealing with the situation.

The track is an impressive piece of art from the young Capetonian and showcases what the Mother City can offer in the R&B music scene.

Bryan Cheru: The future of Cape Town R&B?

Being born in Cape Town, the R&B singer started his journey towards a music career from a young age creating his own beats.

Cheru has gone on to release multiple bodies of music like his YU Ep (2018), his compilation project titled HER INTERLUDE SERIES (2020), his Polaroids: Episode 1 EP (2020), and THE CAPSULE EP (2020).

However, it was his 2021 project Cruel Intentions, that had the singer receive a fair amount of attention from the music world.

Cheru has gone on to work with other artists like Elizee, Ka$hCPT, Indigo Stella, Dee Koala, and Blxckie with many more rising artists in the South African music scene.

The city of Cape Town hasn’t seen the R&B music scene shift to the next level, however, with promising acts like Cheru, this may change and we can’t wait to see what else this bright gem has in store for us in the world of R&B.
